The United Community Center Inc. (UCCW) was founded in 2005 by Jackeline Aguledo, a Philanthropist, with the support of a group of friends who share the same belief that working together is the best way to empower and meet the needs of lower income immigrants and native-born residents in urban settings. UCCW is a non-profit 501 (c ) 3, neighborhood-based organization that serve everyone focusing on needs as well as interests.
We do it because most Immigrants in Westchester experience isolation in degrees unseen in urban areas. The isolation exists on multiple levels and has numerous direct and indirect consequences: it renders the immigrant population extremely vulnerable to exploitation, it limits access to education and information about resources available to them, it prolongs economic inactivity; and it fosters an apathetic and disengaged population. Most of our clients do not have the means and/or knowledge to make use of resources and services on their own. We work to assist our clients and help them restore their lives to reach their full potential by giving them the confidence and resources they are entitled to.
The center is a place of welcoming for thousands of people from different countries and cultures. UCCW encourage and empower members of the community to create abundant lives by offering programs that fall into five different areas.
To help anyone in our diverse community to make use of the resources and services to which they are entitled to; empowering them to improve their life.
Everyone having easy access to abundant resources and services that promote community connection and economic self-sufficiency, educational expansion, cultural opportunities, and facilitates healthy living and general well-being.
